There are rumors circulating that Foxconn would build the TVs for Apple and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company would supply the components. According to unnamed sources, Silicone Precision Industries and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering would also supply parts.
The report claimed that parts suppliers are on schedule to deliver the television parts to Apple for the first quarter of 2012. The parts are said to be for the 32-inch and 37-inch models. The sources added that TV sets would be shipped in the later part of 2012 but this is in conflict with reports from media executives who said that Apple’s TV products were still in the early stages of development.
Speculations about Apple’s venture in the TV market have been going on for the past months. It was rumored to be released this holiday season but it didn’t materialize. Last October, there were talks that Jeff Robbin would head the television division in Apple. He was the genius behind SoundJam MP and Apple’s iTunes app.
Apple hasn’t released any word as to whether it would go into the television market or not. It is the company’s policy not to comment on rumors or unannounced products. At present, Apple TV is available in stores and the company is already familiar with TV content delivery. This would give it an advantage over other TV manufacturers.
