Asus is trying to compete with Apple’s latest iPad. To be in the competition, Asus is going to introduce at least two versions of its Tablet. Jonney Shih, chairman of Asus, told to Forbes that one of their tablets will run Android or Google chrome where as the other runs Microsoft Window’s version. There is a lot of expectation about the names of these tablets. There have been hints about an Eee Pad.
Shih said in a Forbes interview that there’ll be an Apple camp. But Asus have always tried to address the open camps of Microsoft and Google. It is obvious that Asus is trying to produce a low cost Tablet compared to the high cost of Apple iPad. Asus’s focus will be on Multimedia compatibility. Shih also informed that the content will play an important role in these tablets where as there will be lot of media in the Google tablet.
Android or Google’s Chrome OS loaded tablets of Asus will get a lot of multimedia love. But the windows tablet makes us wonder. This tablet cannot run on Tegra 2 System which has dual-ARM CPU. By considering the rivalry between Google and Apple on mobile OS front, they may clash on the tablet front also.
Shih declared clearly that Asus is wishing to invade the customer’s home by introducing different form factors which depends on different scenarios. So Asus is designing the products on the basis of “specs” to “scenarios” approach. There is no idea about how the consumer will use the product.Apple may call the netbook as slow and they may say that it has low quality displays but Asus, the netbook pioneers will surely get back on that.
