Noise cancelling can be tricky. If it is overdone, there would be an eerie silence on the line as if the call has been dropped. But if it is too low, street noise could drown out the conversation. Apple found the right balance and filed a patent for the technology that would ensure that the right level of noise suppression is enabled while making a call.
According to the patent, it incorporates user-specific voice parameters so that the device would automatically adjust noise cancellation with regards to the level of the user’s voice. The technology could be used to adjust the noise suppression settings on their Apple devices.
It could also be used to train the iPhone to recognize the user’s voice in different scenarios. Once the voice has been measured in various situations, the user can then set the noise cancellation settings on the phone.
Noise control is the way to decrease unwanted sound. It is utilized in cellphones, headphones, and automobiles to decrease wind and road noise. The device would emit a sound wave that has the same amplitude as the offending noise source. The noise is reduced and inaudible to human ears. Handsets implement noise suppression but there are users that are unsatisfied with the level of noise cancellation.
