Apple Discusses $99 iPad Battery Replacement Service; Sells Over 100,000 Pre-Orders in 2 Days!

As April 3rd fastly approaches and the huge day that was this past Friday, the beginning of pre-orders for all the iPad versions, has come and gone, Apple has already detailed their plans on replacing your iPad’s battery if it should fail to grasp electricity or burn out. This is nothing new for Apple gadget owners, more specifically iPod and iPhone owners who quite often have to send their beloved product back to get a new one, because of a faulty battery (same can be said about the Macbooks as well as most portable electronic gadgets out in the market)

This quote was taken directly from the Apple website under battery service for ipad. “If your iPad requires service due to the battery’s diminished ability to hold an electrical charge, Apple will replace your iPad for a service fee.”

The cost, $99 (plus $6.95 shipping fee) for all versions of the iPad. However, the replaced battery you get may not be a new battery, but a repaired one with a new covering on the outside. Users are also advised to back-up their settings, media, or anything stored on their iPad, if at all possible, due to the resetting of the settings function as part of the procedure.

And as previously mentioned, Apple began taking pre-orders for the iPad on Friday, and amongst heavy criticism about the iPads cost and underwhelming features, the Apple faithful seemed to have supported them no matter what. In the 2 day span since the iPad began being pre-orderable (dont know if that’s a real word or not), Apple has sold well over 100,000 iPad pre-ordered units just in the United States alone. Analysts say that most, if not all, of the early adopters are opting for the cheaper Wi-Fi only model, which cannot have a 3G signal for data connection over AT&T, by a margin of about 2-to-1. However, the iPad with WiFi + 3G Models might prove to be a better investment as AT&T and Apple have made an exclusive deal that will allow customers to enable or disable their iPad service whenever they want, No Contracts or Subscriptions!

The WiFi only model releases on April 3rd and no word yet on the WiFI + 3G model (late April).
