Apple slashed Mac prices by up to 10 percent in a repeat of its Black Friday deals two years ago. For a second year in a row, Apple offered the iPad at a discounted price. During its one-day sale, Mac prices were reduced by $101, which is a 10 percent discount.
The 11 inch MacBook Air sold for $898 last Friday. The $101 discount across-the-board resulted into discounts of 6 percent to 8 percent for 13 inch MacBook Airs, 4 percent to 8 percent for
MacBook Pro, and 5 percent to 8 percent for iMacs. Mac Pro and Mac Mini were not included in the deals.
The Mac discount was similar to the Black Friday deals two years ago but Apple didn’t exclude its lowest priced notebooks this year. Analysts predicted that MacBook Air would be the most popular Apple Mac this holiday season.
The iPad 2 was slashed between $41 and $61 based on the model, which is a discount of 8 percent to 9 percent. Apple offered discounts of $21 to $41 for the iPod Touch. It also cut the prices for iPod Nano by $11.
Apple’s discounts were offered for both online and brick-and-mortar stores throughout the day. Most stores opened at 6 a.m., which is hours earlier than usual.
